All about that Good Swell

Meet Alba: one of my best friends, avid surfer, and founder of the clothing brand Good Swell.
Today, I want to share with you the story of Good Swell... and it all begins with a surfboard.
You see, Alba has always loved to surf, so when she was given the task of creating something for a school project, she naturally decided to make her own surfboard. However, she needed to fund this project, and that's where her idea of creating a clothing brand came into fruition. She named her brand 'Good Swell', in fitting with her project, and designed her logo so that the shaka symbol replaced the 'w' in 'Swell'. Not only did she design this because it is stereotypical that surfers tend to greet each other with this hand gesture, but because she wanted the message behind Good Swell to truly encompass the shaka way of life: that whilst the connection to the ocean brings us peace and joy, and we should do what we love, we should always try to give back to mother nature and help communities along the way. She printed this simple yet meaningful design onto shirts and sold them to family and friends, which ultimately helped her to finish her project.
Since completing her surfboard, she has travelled all around the world in the quest for the perfect wave; and it is these stories of beautiful places, with endless waves, and souls that she has met along the way, which is reflected in the simple Good Swell designs.
Ultimately, it's Alba's laid-back 'enjoy every moment' attitude to life, combined with her determination to make a difference in this uncertain world, which symbolises the meaning behind Good Swell. Not only is the story and the design behind the brand so endearing, but it is also unisex, showcasing the brands core value of equality to all. This is why I want to share this brand with you!
The first item I got from Good Swell was a burnt orange jumper in size XL. I know that a colour like this may be a bit too bold for some, but I personally couldn't resist buying it! As soon as I saw it, I envisioned myself wearing it on a windy summers day at the beach, following an epic surf-sesh, where the colours of this oversized jumper, along with my tanned-skin and caramel-coloured hair, would perfectly mirror the colours of the sunset I'd be watching with my friends. On the other side of the spectrum, I also imagined myself wearing it as a jumper-dress matched with knee-high boots, in true Ariana Grande style, so that I can still be warm on nights out in chilly England. How Instagram-worthy would the pictures be of this sunset-coloured jumper during golden hour, with a bronzed chiselled face, and a sharp cat-eye wing! Unfortunately, my imagination often gets the best of me, and the reality is that hardly anyone sees me wearing one of my favourite items of clothing because I wear it almost every night as a pyjama, as it is just so comfy to sleep in!
The second item I got from Good Swell was a crisp white T-shirt with the famous Good Swell logo. This was gifted to me by Alba during our surfing-trip to France, with our university's surfing society. I am still unsure if she gave it to me out of kindness; or because I was begging her to give me one of her Good Swell T-shirts for almost a year; or if she was just using me to advertise her brand to everyone else in the surfing society. Nonetheless, whatever the reason, I am so grateful that she gave it to me as I was in desperate need of a basic good-quality T-shirt that I could throw on without thinking, and be confident it would match any outfit!
Good Swell has so many other designs, including another simple T-shirt design with an embroidered shaka symbol; and a hoodie with the saying 'Frothin' to the Coffin' that I'm sure would appeal to any surfer!
But there are many more Good Swell designs coming soon! So, make sure to keep your eyes peeled on their Instagram page: @goodswellbcn
Sending out love and praying for good swells,
